KELLY BLYSTONE

Brother Kelly is 55 years old and the second oldest son of Pastor Kenneth
Blystone Sr. of New Covenant Lighthouse Ministries, a husband, father of four children,
bonus dad of two more, and grandfather of eleven. He is a dock supervisor in the motor
carrier’s industry and Assistant Pastor to Sr. Pastor Mike Murphy at Prevail Church in
Akron, OH.
If you were to ask Pastor Ken if he ever thought that Kelly would follow in his
footsteps, he would say emphatically “NO”. Kelly rebelled against God and the structure
of church at an early age. He had no desire to become what he was forced to see in the
church as a child, so he set out to do the opposite. He hung around with people that
nobody would ever think would step foot in the church. He drank and partied as much
as he could. He tried to break every commandment that God gave Moses in the Book of
Genesis, not on purpose, but it was a byproduct of rebellion.
In 1990, God truly became real to him. His marriage was failing; he wasn’t living
with his family and was spending nights after work partying to forget. It was during one
of these “high” moments that the Holy Spirit first talked to him. He very plainly heard an
audible voice say, “It’s time to go home”. He asked everybody that was with him if they
had told him to go home and nobody had. He then heard the voice say the same thing
again and knew it was God. He left that “party place” sober and walked home to his
family. Shortly after his wife let him come home, he found a church and started in
ministry. He would love to tell you that he has been faithful in ministry ever since, but
that is not his story. The very thing that caused his rebellion in the first place, smacked
him dead in the face. Not so much hypocritical people, but people that took certain
aspects of the Bible and twisted them to their own agendas. He left that church and
ministry. As a twenty something kid trying to be a dad and husband but also trying to
follow Jesus, the journey became very difficult. He finally made the decision to just
“worry about my relationship with Jesus and not worry about those people in the church
and theirs”. He walked away from the call that God had on his life.
He struggled for the next 17 years with his faith, marriage, and fatherhood. In
2012, his marriage was again falling apart, his youngest son was graduated and leaving
the house, and his partying got to the point of certain death. Once again, he heard the
voice of God, but this time it came from a person imploring him to go back to church. He
wanted nothing to do with it but humbled himself and went. It was the beginning of his
comeback. He rededicated himself to Father God and Lord Jesus. He was officially
ordained in April of 2019 and hasn’t looked back.
As life would have it, his 1 st marriage did end, but that was a result of a lifetime of
mistrust and infidelity. However, God saw his heart and knew he needed someone to
share his life with and brought to him the woman that God specifically picked out just for
him. They have been married for almost 10 years and love God together.
Kelly travels to different churches in Ohio (so far) and evangelizes. His deepest
desire is to see the next generation of rebellious people find God way before he did. He
preaches with honesty, life lessons, biblical truth, and humor. He has two catch phrases,
“Jesus FREAK” “How strong is your WANT TO?”. They go together; we can’t have a
strong “want to” without being a Jesus FREAK!
So, are you a “Jesus FREAK” and “How strong is your WANT TO?”
